The concept and product development was triggered by security screening failures that allowed in the terrorists incidents of 9/11 and Paris shoe bomber Richard Reid to successfully smuggle blade and plastic explosive devices through traditional metal detector/ commonly known as Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) or Walk through Metal Detectors (WTMD). Following these incidents innovative shoe scanning technology was

developed by IDO security 2000- Ltd, a subsidiary of IDO Security Ltd, and patented as “Mag Shoe™” which was successfully tested by Israel's National Security Agency (ISA) , Britain’s Home Office Police Scientific Development Branch and accepted by UK’s Department of Transport.

Mag Shoe is certified by International Organization of Standardization under ISO 9001:2000 compliance rules covering the design, development and manufacture of electronic, electro-optical and electro magnetic devices.

The time taken for scanning is less than a few seconds (1.6 seconds on an average) thus increasing throughput and removing the inconvenience and embracement to public, On completion of the scan the proprietary software emits a Audio and clear Visual signal to the operator who can also view the scan results on the control panel if required.

Since the Mag Shoe can detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the device has theft-prevention application as well within electronic manufacturing and assembling facilities, logistic centre and ware houses, gold and silver industries, jewellery and watch work shops and coin mints.

Mag Shoe is already installed and operating successfully at International Airports in Spain, Poland, Hungary, The Czech republic, Slovakia, Kenya and many other Countries. The portable scanning device is also used by Israel’s National Security Agency for the Prime Minister’s Personal protection. The Parliament Building, The President’s Residence and Border crossing. Mag Shoe is also used at the Royal Australian Mint and National Family Court Houses in Australia. Air India, Monarch, Britannia and First choice Airways use Mag Shoe services through Private Security Companies for improved passenger service and tighten up security.
